I do not do many boat dives. I really enjoy my shore dives. So it feels unnecessary and expensive for me to do boat dives sometimes. However, especially at certain sites, the atmosphere is so different and we get to see different marine life compared to our regulars in shore dives, it is totally worth it.
Past weekend I went out with Mass Diving friends and Cape Ann Divers to Burnham Ledge and Big F* Wall. First year of my diving I had done BFW and I loved it. It is a huge wall, dropping from ~45-50 ft to 100ft. It is full of life. I love to get a few feet away and get an overall look at the wall as I am suspended in the “air”. But then I go into those little crevices and try to find small creatures/treasures. And I go back and forth, big picture, small picture.
I had never done Burnham Ledge before but I heard a lot about it and people have seen wolffish there earlier this year. I would love to see another one closer to home. The site is at a trench, which lies on East-West line. One side gets deeper, I do not remember which one was which :/. It is a beautiful topography with a lot to explore. However we were quite cautious, apparently once you get out of the ledge it is easy to get lost because everything looks similar. But the ledge had a lot to offer so no complaints here. But I would be happier if I could find the wolffish, I did really look for that thing through out the dive.
Both of the dives went down to ~90-100ft. I realized that my camera casing is not very comfortable at those depths, some buttons got pushed in and did not release. So I do not have many photos.
